ADVENTURE YOUTH CAMPS – RAFTING & KAYAKING
These are fun! Since 1996 Montana River Guides has offered these unique day 3 to 5 day camps for kids age 11 through 17. We integrate learning practical river skills with personal development in a fun, challenging setting. Participants learn the fundamentals of river safety and rafting or kayaking while developing their confidence, self esteem, leadership, and teamwork. Parents are always welcome to come see our facilities for themselves and meet with our experienced staff.
Rafting, Rescue and River Adventure Camp
Designed for 11-17 year old kids this course is modeled on our professional guide school. The class intorduces kids to river safety, equipment, reading water, and rescue fundamentals. After an introduction to paddle rafting , campers get to guide rafts under the supervision of our instructors. Days 2 and 3 focus on river safety and rescue...kids get to prepare for a trip, recognize and avoid hazards, swim rapids, learn how to self rescue and rescue others, and work together on a fun series of rescue scenarios presented by instructors from the Whitewater Rescue Institute (WRI). On days four and five the kids will get a combination of whitewater fun during all day raft and i.k. trips on the Blackfoot River and Alberton Gorge. Kids will get to give paddle commands, guide the rafts, and practice in flow rescue situations.
Rafting & River Leadership
During the rafting camp, each day the kids navigate a progressively more challenging section of river. The camp culminates in a trip down the Alberton Gorge where, under the supervision of professional guides, the students guide each other down this fun whitewater run. These camps are sure to be fun and exciting for your kids. Our camps are designed to teach kids the basic skills of river running in a safe and enjoyable manner. By the time the camp's over, campers will not only have increased their own confidence and self esteem from the skills they've learned, but will also have had a great time working through teambuilding games with their new found friends.
