Missoula Rafting
Whitewater & Scenic Raft Trips near Missoula
Missoula whitewater raft trips include the Clark Fork River’s Alberton Gorge which contains the best whitewater rafting in the state. The nearby Blackfoot River offers a combination of family whitewater and mountain scenery. Flowing through the heart of downtown Missoula, the Clark Fork River now has one of the best surf waves in the world. Brennan’s Wave was created by the hard work of local white water rafting kayakers and the Missoula Whitewater Association in memory of local friend and world class paddler Brennan Guth. Now kayakers, rafters, and tubers can paddle, surf and play in rapids right downtown.
Our most popular whitewater trip is the Alberton Gorge morning half day or full day trip. We meet at 9am and are usually the first boats on the river. This is better for wildlife viewing and truly appreciating one of Montana’s most spectacular river canyons.
For scenic raft trips we recommend either the Tarkio Gorge just west of town or a short sunrise float trip through the Hellgate Canyon. The Clark Fork River is not dam-controlled. River levels fluctuate dramatically throughout the summer. We will recommend the best option based on current flows.
Missoula kayaking and Missoula standup paddle boarding trips are more adventuresome options. We offer those trips daily and provide all of your equipment, a safety briefing with instruction, and a wonderful guided river adventure. We often partner with 10,000 Waves Raft & Kayak Adventures on our kayaking tours.
The beautiful Bitterroot River winds north between the Sapphire and Bitterroot Mountain Ranges before it pours into the Clark Fork River. Join us for one of our Missoula river trips and experience Zootown’s best summer adventure.
