Raft Guide Schools in Montana
Raft Guide Schools are available with Montana River Guides in 2018 .
Our five day raft guide schools are designed for people wanting to lead river trips or become professional raft guides. We focus on safety, reading water, and guiding paddle rafts through Class II, III and IV whitewater. Topics include trip preparation, safety talks, equipment, rigging, boat handling, communications, paddle commands, and rescue techniques. Our five-day Raft Guide School combines river instruction with a certified Whitewater Rescue Technician class the first three days. On days four and five you’ll guide whitewater raft trips on the Blackfoot River and Alberton Gorge. The course is hosted at the Alberton Gorge Ranch and includes a Whitewater Rescue Technician certification and certificate of completion.
Montana Raft Guide Training: Learn how to Guide Whitewater!
Private boaters will learn valuable, basic river-running risk management practices such as using proper equipment, always containing your trip with a lead and sweep boat, and the importance of back-up or emergency plans. New professional raft guides will appreciate instructor insights about working with guests and inexperienced paddle crews, and the importance of clear paddle commands and precise guide strokes. Rescue professionals will benefit from the continual hands on practice and maximization of river time in every class. There is no better way to learn and practice rescue skills than through fast-paced scenarios. Montana River Guides has been offering these unique Raft Guide Schools for over 20 years.
